Dropbeats is Prepared for EU’s 2027 Mandate with ISO 15118-20-Ready Controller DB2605

Release time:

2025-07-23

Dropbeats is Prepared for EU’s 2027 Mandate with ISO 15118-20-Ready Controller DB2605.

Shanghai, China – July 23, 2025 — Dropbeats, a global leader in EV communication controllers, today announced full support for the European Union’s newly published regulations requiring ISO 15118-20 compliance for all newly installed and renovated EV charging stations—including private wallboxes—starting January 1, 2027.

This regulatory requirement stems from Regulation (EU) 2023/1804, known as the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), and its implementing regulation (EU) 2025/656, officially published in the Official Journal of the EU on June 18, 2025. These documents mandate that all new AC and DC charging stations—whether public or private—must support EN ISO 15118-20:2022, the latest global standard for secure, intelligent, and interoperable EV charging.

Key Compliance Deadlines:
    •    January 8, 2026 – Public AC chargers must support ISO 15118-2:2016.
    •    January 1, 2027 – All new or renovated AC and DC chargers (public & private) must support ISO 15118-20:2022.

In response, Dropbeats is delivering forward-looking solutions that ensure compliance and competitive advantage. The DB2605, Dropbeats’ compact AC communication controller, is specifically engineered to meet the full requirements of ISO 15118-20, enabling seamless Plug & Charge, smart charging, and future vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities.

“We welcome the EU’s leadership in mandating smart, secure, and future-ready charging standards,” said Michael Jiang, founder at Dropbeats. “Our DB2605 controller empowers manufacturers to stay ahead of regulation, reduce development complexity, and deliver world-class EV charging experiences.”

The DB2605 is powered by advanced Qualcomm chipsets and includes a pre-certified software stack for ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20, ensuring compatibility with the latest EV models and infrastructure globally.

Dropbeats is already working with EVSE manufacturers across Europe to integrate the DB2605 ahead of schedule, ensuring smooth regulatory transition and a smarter EV charging ecosystem.
